We have all been waiting for this moment, and it has finally arrived. The Enzo replacement that we have been dying to see was unveiled to the masses today, but it goes by a name none of us were expecting. Its not the F150, nor the F70. Instead, we have the Ferrari LaFerrari. So without further ado, here it is.
The LaFerrari is powered by both a V12 and electric motor. The V12 pumps out a menacing 800hp, and the HY-KERS electric motor produces an extra 163hp, bringing the total power output to 963hp. The 6262 cc V12 used in the LaFerrari is the most powerful naturally-aspirated engine ever used in a Ferrari road car. Combined torque from both engines is over 663 lb-ft, meaning this car has at least 178 lb-ft of torque more than the Enzo. But what could handle such a powerful heart? How about an F1 dual-clutch gearbox? Yeah, that will do the trick. Alo 0-60mph will be accomplished in under 3 seconds. Just thought I’d throw that little tidbit in there, not that that’s an impressive number or anything…
All of this power would be no good if this car was a heavy hunk of metal, but did you really think Ferrari would let that happen? The LaFerrari has a bodyshell made entirely of carbon fiber, with some extras thrown in. For example: underneath the driver and passenger, Kevlar is woven into the carbon fiber. What is Kevlar? Oh you know, the stuff that stops bullets.
Ferrari plans on building 499 of these beautiful creatures, but sadly all of them have been purchased already. It looks like you may have to wait for one of the owners to get bored of their LaFerrari in order to buy one… But really, do you think anyone is ever going to get bored of this thing? Doubtful.
Below are some photos and a video of the LaFerrari unveiling at the Geneva Motor Show taken byMarchettino.
